links to love.

It's been awhile since I posted one but I have really been finding a ton of inspiration online lately and wanted to share.

Beer pancakes? Ummmmmmm....yes. I think I want to make these tonight and then snuggle up with Marc on the couch. Coffee, Arrested Development and lots of blankets.
I am also craving some peanut butter and chocolate goodness and this fits the bill.

I have really been going through my closet and realizing that I am growing tired of most of my wardrobe and that I keep going back to a few staples, basic neutrals, jeans, cutoffs, simple skirts, etc. After reading this article I am pretty firmly decided that I am about to minimize my wardrobe down to mix and match, save for a few pieces I wear often and love. I have been shopping for clothes once in the last month and it has been really refreshing to get away from this buy!buy!buy! mindset, even if it is thrifted. A few outfits that have inspired me: One. Two. Three.

A simple guide to clutter free home.
I started hooping recently and love the idea of hooping for exercise, this is a pretty good guide.
This bed would be wonderful, though I'm not sure I have the skill set to build it though.
I struggle with true forgiveness, as I am sure most of us do and this article was a very empowering thing to read.
Speak your truth and not your fears.
7 ways to feel great about you.

And I wanted to leave you with this, it has been on my mind a lot:
Develop self-awareness and improve your relationships. I included just a snippet from the article (below) to encourage you to read it. I have been getting rid of this in my life, practicing being aware of my feelings, thoughts and actions during an argument and it is literally changing my life. I highly recommend reading.

Expanding on this train of thought, self-victimization includes:
  • Dwelling and obsessing about the ways we feel we’ve been wronged
  • Complaining about painful, seemingly unfair events without ever considering if and how we played a role in them
  • Using these events to justify negativity; bitterness; or selfish, hurtful, or irresponsible actions
  • Feeding off other people’s sympathy and maybe even depending on it
  • Telling sad stories from the past as a means of avoiding judgment or trying to win approval
  • Believing that everything would be better if the world or other people would change
As someone who’s done all of these things in the past, I can attest that this is often the result of immense pain.

  3. I don't have kids, so it's really easy to keep a clutter-free home. Regarding both clutter and clothes, I think I am allergic to excess. (The problem is I am happy to donate things and clear the house out, but still tempted to go shopping and replace things.) What really keeps me from buying/having too much is a distaste for excess when I know so many people in the world have so little. I just can't stand looking at a million sweaters in my closet when I could easily survive with one. That said, I am so grateful for what I have and I don't think it's the end of the world to have stuff. I guess it's the mindfulness that I appreciate. Good articles, Bekah, thanks for those!

  7. Thanks for the inspiration! I definitely need to minimize my 'stuff' including a lot of clothes I don't wear. Since reading "If the Buddha Married" I have been working on correcting those deeply ingrained habits of self victimization. So difficult but freeing.

  12. Love the decluttering site. Great timing because we are packing up to move and keep asking ourselves, do we want this? and struggling with the guilt of, "not really" answers.

  14. I have been reading for a few months now, and just wanted to say how much I love your blog. I have bought some of your book recommendations and I appreciate you sharing your journey through life so much. I love reading a blog where I feel inspired to be a better wife and mother even though (or especially because) nobody preached at me or showed me a zillion pictures of their amazing perfect food/clothes/children/house. Here's to finding joy and beauty in the "real" everyday!
