This past weekend was spent in Auburn. Marc and I ventured into our first projects as curators for a website, a website about Auburn. It's really exciting to think of what could come of this. We are trying to join our human experiences, the communities, to light. Auburn has a lot to offer but you have to dig. So, basically, this weekend, we had three projects to finish. A few interviews, photos, and what-not. The first few things were a bit overwhelming, we had Luna with us and it was stressful. Marc and I walked out discouraged. I think we are both perfectionists. We always expect that we will preform better than we do, we set the bar very high in our own minds. We fought that night, I think it was leftover anxiety with the whole project. The next day went better, we both woke up with a more positive perspective. We tackled a few more projects and then spent time with our friend Lily, and later, Marc's Mom. Sunday was a perfect day. Marc and I tackled the final few projects while his Mom kept the girls for us. I can't explain how much this meant to us both. We had a fantastic experience. We were interviewing random people, together. It was just so interesting. Just having a reason to start conversations with people. We stopped people we might not otherwise take time to talk to and we're pleasantly surprised when we found...that connection. I mean, it sounds a bit vague, but I think its worth noting. We aren't all that different. It was also interesting to see that some people are just too busy to talk, and/or not interested in connecting with others. We noticed this several times. It was a eye opening experience. I am so glad to be doing this with Marc. We both discussed these things and we both felt a renewed zeal for this project. We are so lucky to have this opportunity.

My friend, Lily, is a doll.
p.s I CUT MARC'S HAIR YA'LL!
I love him. He is wearing the shirt I got him for Christmas. The Weepies are our band. Sorry.
Beautiful man.
For fun...
This angel baby hung out with us on projects while Sissy was with her Aunts.
God, I love her.
Things are good, good, good.
Tell me what good things are happening to you.
I'm so glad that you and Marc are able to do something together that inspires and excites you. It's the dream. Marc's hair looks great, by the way. I was less successful when I cut my boyfriend's hair and he's decided not to let me loose with the scissors again. :(
ReplyDeleteyou're brave cutting his hair. it looks great! congrats on your new project. it sounds like a blast!

I am so glad to see things coming together for you. I often work with my husband and it is an amazing challenge, but very rewarding. I hope that things continue to progress for you and Marc. For me things are getting BETTER. Hopefully I will soon be able to say things are good, good, good!
ReplyDeleteSo good to hear!! Community is something I am working on, finding people I have things in common with (besides the blogging community) is hard for me! But I guess it's just going to take time... and effort.
ReplyDeleteI'm so glad for you and mark, working together sounds really awesome. Brandon has just quit his job and we will be doing the same pretty soon! This gives me hope that it's going to go really well for us, so I'm really excited about that!! I can't wait to hear more about your adventures and see the final results of your projects.
